The Case IH Patriot self-propelled sprayer was engineered around a core concept: maintaining a constant application rate regardless of terrain or ground speed. Designers shifted the center of gravity as low as possible and achieved an optimal 50/50 weight distribution between the axles. For the operator, this translates to predictable machine behavior on slopes and the elimination of excessive oscillation when operating with a full tank.

AIM Command System: Precision Drop Control

The core of the Patriot’s efficiency is its Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology. Unlike traditional systems where fluid pressure is directly linked to droplet size, AIM Command manages dosage via valve frequency (cycling up to 30 times per second). Practical benefits include:

• Consistent pressure while varying ground speed: droplet size remains uniform, effectively mitigating wind drift.
• Individual nozzle control: the sprayer recognizes each section, preventing overlaps on turns and irregular field geometry.
• Chemical savings by eliminating redundant application coverage.

Chassis and Traction

The machine utilizes a closed-center hydraulic system with a load-sensing pump, significantly reducing engine power losses. The air-ride suspension effectively dampens impacts, keeping the booms horizontal even at high speeds. The active boom height control system enables the machine to mirror complex field contours, maintaining the optimal distance from the nozzle to the target canopy, which is essential for systemic fungicide efficacy.

Engine and Power Transmission

The FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies) engines powering the Patriot provide high torque reserves at low RPMs. This goes beyond fuel efficiency—it allows the sprayer to maintain consistent working speeds through challenging or soft field conditions where high torque demand is critical for steady momentum.
