Description
The 'Moscow Giant' celery variety is a mid-early root crop variety with a maturity period of 120-130 days from germination to technical ripeness. The root crops are large, turnip-shaped or round, weighing from 300 to 500 grams, with a smooth white peel with a slight yellowish tint. The flesh is dense, juicy, white, with a delicate taste and pronounced aroma. The variety is characterized by high yield, good storability, and increased sugar, essential oil, and mineral salt content, which gives it special value both in cooking and in medicine.
For growing 'Moscow Giant', sowing on seedlings from early February to March with a sowing depth of about 0.5 cm and a sowing rate of 1-1.5 g per square meter is recommended. Seedlings are transplanted to open ground at 50-60 days old with 5-6 leaves, maintaining a distance of 15 cm between plants and 45 cm between rows. The plant is sensitive to frost, requires fertile and moist soils, and develops poorly on acidic soils. To increase yield, top dressing with mineral and liquid organic fertilizers, as well as the application of fresh manure, is necessary.
Celery 'Moscow Giant' is widely used fresh, dried, in home cooking, and in canning due to its taste qualities and beneficial properties. It promotes the elimination of salts from the body and increased overall tone. Due to good storability and storage resistance, this variety is an excellent choice for long-term storage and use in various culinary purposes.
