The Claas Vario header is the industry benchmark for adaptability in modern grain harvesting. The core of its design lies in the infinitely adjustable table mechanism. Unlike fixed-position headers, the Vario allows for travel of up to 700 mm, enabling operators to optimize the crop flow directly in front of the threshing unit.

Why this matters for operational performance

• Constant crop flow: The adjustable table allows the header to be configured based on the crop's stem length. When harvesting tall crops, the table extends forward to minimize grain losses at the header bar. For short-stalk crops, the table retracts toward the intake auger, ensuring a consistent and uniform feed.
• Precision cutting geometry: The Claas Vario knife bar is engineered to minimize vibrations even at high forward speeds. The high-durability drive gearbox ensures a clean cut without tearing the stem edges, which significantly reduces the mechanical strain on the combine's threshing system.
• Seamless rapeseed integration: The design eliminates time-consuming conversions. Switching to rapeseed harvesting is rapid — side knives are installed without tools, and the sealed design ensures that even the smallest oilseed particles are retained within the header rather than lost in the field.

The Vario table technology is fundamentally about controlling the feed density. When crop mass enters the feeder house in a consistent layer, the threshing drum operates with greater stability, preventing "peak" load spikes. This translates directly into improved fuel economy and extended engine component life.
