Engineering flexibility in the field

The Claas Vario header is the benchmark for adaptability in modern grain harvesting. The core design feature is the stepless table length adjustment, which allows for a reach extension of up to 700 mm. In practice, this enables a seamless transition from harvesting wheat to harvesting rapeseed without the need for additional attachments. Smooth table extension ensures optimal positioning of the reel relative to the cutterbar, which is critical for preventing grain losses when working with tall or lodged crops.

Cutting system and power transmission

The heart of the system is a high-performance knife drive operating via a planetary gearbox. Unlike standard crank-type mechanisms, the planetary drive ensures a high knife stroke frequency with minimal vibration. This significantly reduces wear across the entire assembly and allows for maintaining high combine speeds without compromising cut quality. The use of a synchronized drive on both sides (for wider models) prevents binding when processing dense crop mass.

Feeding geometry

Crop flow is optimized through a deep trough-shaped auger profile and the ability to adjust both the height and reach. This kinematics guarantees uniform distribution of the mass across the full width of the feeder house, eliminating skewing. For the operator, this means stable load on the threshing unit and consistent threshing, which directly impacts grain tank purity and fuel consumption per hectare.
