MERYANKA

Blueberry 'Meryanka' is an early-ripening variety characterized by a medium-sized shrub with a widely spreading canopy and straight, light-brown canes. The leaves are medium-sized with a smooth, glossy leathery surface, while the floral buds are small, giving the plant a neat appearance. The berries are round-oval, dense, with a medium-thickness dark red skin and a mass of about 1 g. They have a sweet-sour taste without a noticeable aroma, containing 9.4% sugars and 3.4% acids, as well as 19.8% of vitamin C.

Phenological characteristics of the variety have been confirmed by studies in the Moscow region: the flowering period lasts 27–30 days, and fruit ripening takes 25 days. The variety demonstrates high winter hardiness; after wintering, plant integrity is maintained at 100%. In cold regions, 'Meryanka' withstands low temperatures down to -1.5 °C under snow cover and shows resistance to late-winter frosts.

Blueberry 'Meryanka' has a rich nutrient composition: in addition to vitamin C, it contains B-group vitamins, potassium, iron, manganese, and other trace elements. Due to high levels of antioxidants, blueberries help protect DNA from mutations, reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and aging, and have diuretic, bactericidal, and biostimulating effects. It is recommended to consume 75–100 g of berries daily, avoiding intake on an empty stomach or before sleep to avoid discomfort for people with high stomach acidity.
