Cucumber 'By the Hook of a Fish' is a medium-early parthenocarpic hybrid with female-type flowering, beginning to bear fruit on day 50-52 after mass germination. The plant is single-stemmed with underdeveloped lateral shoots, eliminating the need for pinching or shaping, which greatly simplifies care and allows planting up to 5-6 plants per square meter. Fruit set occurs in clusters, contributing to high yield and an extended fruiting period lasting until frost.

Fruits are cylindrical or spindle-shaped, 8-12 cm long, dark green with white stripes reaching one-third of the fruit, and large, sparsely distributed bumps. The skin is dense, and the flesh is crisp, making the cucumbers suitable for fresh consumption and pickling. Fruit weight is approximately 100-120 grams. The hybrid is distinguished by high cold tolerance, disease resistance, and excellent taste qualities.

A key feature of cultivation is the possibility of obtaining a second late harvest by fertilizing plants with full mineral fertilizer applied to the leaves starting in August, which stimulates the formation of lateral shoots with three nodes and additional cucumbers. Due to these characteristics, cucumber 'By the Hook of a Fish' is an excellent choice for gardeners aiming for high yields with minimal labor input.
