GREEN GNOME

Green Gnomes is an ultra-early, high-yielding hybrid of cucumber of cornichon type, suitable for cultivation both in plastic greenhouses and in open ground. The period from germination to the start of fruiting is 37 to 50 days, allowing for early and abundant harvest. The plant is compact, predominantly female-flowering with limited branching, forming 3 to 5 or more fruits per node, promoting uniform fruiting. The hybrid is parthenocarpic, ensuring stable fruit formation without pollination.

Fruits have dark green color with fine warts and white down. The zucchini are short, cylindrical, 6 to 9 cm long and weighing 40 to 85 grams, matching the cornichon type. They possess excellent taste qualities, suitable for fresh consumption, salad preparation, and various home preservation methods including pickling and canning. Due to its high yield of 14–16 kg per square meter, this hybrid is an advantageous choice for gardeners and farmers.

The plant demonstrates resistance to diseases and stress related to weather conditions, as well as low maintenance requirements. For planting, seedlings are recommended, sown at the end of May, with transplanting into greenhouses at the end of May — beginning of June, following a 40x40 cm spacing. Direct sowing of seeds in greenhouses is also possible in mid-May. Seeds retain viability for up to 7 years under proper storage conditions; however, after expiration, it is recommended to increase the sowing rate to ensure good germination.
