ON THE TOOTH

Cucumber of the "On the Tooth" variety is a medium-early first-generation hybrid, intended for cultivation in open ground and under temporary film covers. The plant is indeterminate, medium-height or tall, with medium branching and predominantly female flowering. One to two fruits usually form in leaf axils, contributing to stable fruiting. Leaves are medium-sized, green, and the plant is adapted for cultivation in various regions, requiring highly fertile, neutral, well-drained soils enriched with organic matter. The "On the Tooth" cucumber fruits are short, cylindrical, about 10-11 cm long, dark green with short stripes. The fruit surface is covered with medium to large bumps with medium-density white hairs. The weight of a single fruit ranges from 95 to 115 grams. Cucumbers have excellent flavor, crisp texture, and high commercial uniformity, making them suitable for whole-fruit canning without additional grading. The hybrid is characterized by high yield and uniform fruiting, enabling maximum harvest in a short time. The maturation period is 41-47 days from emergence to the start of fruiting, allowing for early-season harvests when market prices are especially high. Sowing on seedlings is recommended in early May, followed by transplanting 20-day-old seedlings into the ground at the end of May to early June. When sown directly into open ground, seeds are placed in rows at a depth of 1.5-2 cm, with 50 cm spacing between rows; after thinning, leave 3-4 plants per linear meter. Commercial yield under film covers in summer-autumn rotation reaches 5.8 kg per square meter.
