Practical experience with 'Dvortsovy' cucumber

When managing greenhouse production, yield stability is the ultimate priority. The 'Dvortsovy' hybrid by OOO Hardvik is a generative-type cucumber that performs exceptionally well under intensive conditions. The standout feature I observed during the growing cycle is the speed: in glass greenhouses, we reached harvesting stage by day 40, which is a decisive advantage for early-season markets.

Cultivation and disease control

As this is a parthenocarpic hybrid, the lack of need for pollination significantly reduces labor costs inside the greenhouse. From a pathological standpoint, the plant is quite resilient; its documented resistance to root rots allows for a much lower dependency on fungicides. With proper irrigation management, root rot issues are minimal, which simplifies overall plant care. The plant responds well to fertilization but requires careful pruning, as its generative nature demands a clear balance between fruit load and vegetative mass.

Harvest quality

The output is consistent: fruits measure 15–20 cm in length, featuring a deep dark green color and prominent tubercles. They are dense and handle transportation well, maintaining their market-ready appearance for a long time. The thorns are moderately expressed, making the harvesting process comfortable for the operators.

While this hybrid performs adequately in open fields, I find that its genetic potential, provided by OOO Hardvik, is best utilized in controlled glass greenhouse environments. It is a reliable choice for growers who value the balance between an early start and strong resistance to soil-borne pathogens.
