Description
Ukrainian variety ANNA represents a mid-ripening high-yielding variety of dill, bred at the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Breeding named after N.I. Vavilov. The plant is characterized by an elevated rosette of large leaves with a large number of segments, which have a dark green color with a grayish tint and a medium waxy coating. At the flowering stage, the dill is semi-elevated, tall, with umbrellas of medium diameter up to 15 cm. Ripening periods are medium: from germination to green harvest takes 42-52 days, and to spices – 71-94 days.
Variety ANNA is distinguished by high yield: for greens it reaches 1.2 kg/m² (or 122 ct/ha), and for spices – 4.6 kg/m² (455 ct/ha). Due to the long period of shelf life and pronounced aroma, dill is suitable both for fresh consumption and for use as a spice. The taste qualities of the variety are highly rated, making it in demand in cooking.
For successful cultivation, it is recommended to sow dill in autumn or early spring, as well as conduct multiple spring-summer sowings with an interval of 10-12 days. Seed sowing depth is 1-2 cm. The plant prefers loamy and light clayey, well-cultivated neutral soils. Dill variety ANNA is sun-loving and moisture-loving, therefore requires timely watering and regular weed control to ensure maximum yield and quality of greens.
