Description
Dill of the Elchka variety is a popular bush type with tender aromatic greenery and an original bluish leaf tint. The plant is characterized by high yield and a compact basal rosette; stem height varies from 50 to 100 cm. Leaves are large, silvery-green, with a rich aroma and very delicate taste, making the dill ideal for fresh use in various dishes. Additionally, umbels and seeds of this variety are widely used as spices, especially for preserving vegetables.
Elchka dill has sufficiently early maturity dates: fresh greens are ready for harvest 35-40 days after sowing, while umbel flowers appear 65-80 days later. Due to the ability to sow every 10-14 days, up to six harvests can be obtained per season, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh greens. Yield reaches 2.5-3 kg per square meter, and after cutting, greens retain freshness in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
Growing Elchka dill does not require special skills and is suitable for both open ground and greenhouses. Sowing is recommended in loose, fertile soil in a sunny or slightly shaded area in early April or at the end of November on frozen soil, followed by covering with mulch. Regular and abundant watering promotes good plant development and early harvest, which with proper care can be obtained 2-3 weeks earlier than usual.
