Description
Generalskiy is a late-maturing variety of dill, characterized by a compact, bushy plant type with basal rosettes at the base of the stem. Stems are dark green with a waxy coating, densely leafy, with shortened internodes. Leaves are long, large, fluffy, dark green in color, juicy and tender, possessing high aromaticity and rich flavor. Mass of one plant at harvest for greenery is 20-25 grams, while for use as a spice it is 50-55 grams.
The variety is distinguished by slowed stem formation and the ability to regrow after cutting, which ensures a long period of commercial usability of the greens. High content of essential oils makes dill Generalskiy particularly valuable for culinary use. It is suitable for drying, freezing, making spices, as well as for pickling and marinating.
Agrotechnology of cultivation includes sowing in several terms at a depth of 0.5-1 cm at a distance between rows of 5-10 cm or random continuous sowing. Mulching with peat is recommended, as well as timely watering and weeding to ensure optimal growth. Greens are cut as they grow, which allows obtaining fresh produce for a long time. Biological viability of seeds with proper storage is up to three years.
