The Dongfeng DF series tractors are versatile machines in the 0.4–0.6 traction class, engineered for small to medium-sized farms. This equipment belongs to the light agricultural machinery segment, designed to perform a full cycle of field operations on plots up to 10–15 hectares, as well as for municipal territory maintenance.

Engine and Transmission

At the heart of the series are reliable liquid-cooled diesel engines. Depending on the model (e.g., DF-244 or DF-404), 3- or 4-cylinder units are installed. The main advantage of Dongfeng power plants is high torque at low RPMs, which is critical when operating tillage equipment. The transmission typically features a (4+1)x2 layout with a reduction gear, providing a wide range of operating speeds from 0.5 to 25 km/h.

Drivetrain and Chassis

Series models are equipped with a four-wheel drive (4WD) system with a selectable front axle, allowing for efficient use of engine power in muddy soil conditions. A rear axle differential lock is a standard feature, preventing wheel slippage during plowing or slope traversal. The ground clearance ranges from 280 to 350 mm, ensuring unobstructed passage between crop rows.

Hydraulics and Implementation

The hydraulic system is equipped with a high-capacity gear pump, ensuring stable performance for implements. A three-point hitch allows for the attachment of plows, rotary tillers, mowers, sprayers, and trailers. The inclusion of a dual-speed Power Take-Off (PTO) at 540/1000 RPM expands tractor compatibility with active implements from third-party manufacturers.

Application in Agricultural Operations

Dongfeng DF tractors are indispensable for pre-sowing soil preparation, including plowing, cultivating, and harrowing. Due to their compact dimensions, these machines operate effectively in confined spaces (greenhouses, farms) and narrow orchard rows. During winter, the tractor is successfully used with a blade or snowblower for clearing areas, demonstrating excellent maneuverability.

Maintenance and Reliability

The tractor design is characterized by simplicity and ease of maintenance: all lubrication points and fluid monitoring checkpoints are accessible without special tools. Parts for the DF series are standardized, significantly reducing the cost of ownership. The engine service life before an overhaul, provided that oil and filter replacement schedules are followed, is at least 5,000 engine hours.
