• Access to lubrication points is easy; you don't have to disassemble half of the machine to use the grease gun.
• The gearbox holds oil well, but I strongly recommend tightening all bolts after the initial break-in period; factory assemblies often need a 'once-over' before heavy duty.
• Blade replacement is relatively simple. The main thing is to have a good set of wrenches and not procrastinate with sharpening, otherwise, the load on the shaft and gearbox increases unnecessarily.

Operational Practicalities

When using this equipment, it is important to remember your speed. If you go too fast in the first gear, it won't have time to mulch the weeds properly—leaving large root chunks behind. It is optimal to work at the PTO speeds recommended by your tractor manufacturer to ensure a 'clean' cut. Fuel consumption when using the FN-1 is predictable; it doesn't overload the engine, so the tractor doesn't lug or burn extra fuel. Maintenance is undemanding: cleaning after a shift, checking chain tension (if applicable to your specific model), and inspecting seals—that's the entire routine.

Overall, the DTZ FN-1 is a 'workhorse' that doesn't hold any nasty surprises. It provides good value for money without requiring high-tech workshop services. If you appreciate simplicity and the ability to fix things yourself in the field, this is the right choice for you.
