Black Prince

The "Black Prince" eggplant variety is a medium-height plant, 70–130 cm tall, reaching up to 150 cm in greenhouse conditions. The bushes are moderately leafy with medium-sized green leaves and large purple flowers. It is recommended to grow in open ground or under film covers, with an optimal planting scheme of 40x60 cm. To obtain a high-quality crop, the plant should be pruned after transplanting by removing side shoots and extra leaves, leaving 5–6 of the largest fruits on the bush by the end of July.

The eggplant fruits are cylindrical, 24–26 cm long and 2–3 cm in diameter, can be straight or curved, sometimes with a snake-like bend. Their color is rich purple with a lilac tint; the surface is slightly glossy. Fruit weight varies from 150 to 230 g, and according to some data, reaches 200–400 g. The flesh is dense, white with a greenish tint, non-bitter, juicy, and flavorful. Due to these qualities, the fruits are ideal for baking, vegetable stews, homemade caviar, and canning.

The variety is early-maturing—first fruits ripen 105–110 days after germination, and according to other data, 110–130 days. It is drought-resistant and has high yield, reaching 8.7–8.8 kg per square meter under film covers. "Black Prince" is a universal variety, valued for its high fruit quality and suitable for growing in both open ground and greenhouses.
