Description

Northern Indigo is an early hybrid eggplant variety intended for cultivation in both open ground and protected environments. It is particularly well-suited for northern regions and risky agricultural zones due to its high cold resistance and resistance to most diseases. The bushes of this variety are low-growing, reaching 50-60 cm in open ground and about 1 meter in greenhouses; they are sturdy and powerful but require staking due to abundant fruiting.

The fruits of the Northern Indigo eggplant have a classic cylindrical shape, about 20-25 cm in length and weighing from 180 to 250 grams. The skin is smooth, thin, and dark purple, while the flesh is dense, white, practically seedless, and without bitterness, ensuring an excellent taste. Prickles are almost absent on the sepals, which significantly facilitates harvest collection. Fruiting begins 105-110 days after germination and continues for up to 2.5 months, allowing for a stable and prolonged yield.

The hybrid boasts high productivity—up to 8 kg per square meter in open ground and up to 13 kg in protected areas. It is undemanding in care, withstands unfavorable conditions well, and has good storability and transportability. The recommended planting density is 3-4 plants per square meter. Thanks to the combination of high agronomic characteristics and quality fruits, Northern Indigo is quickly gaining popularity among gardeners.
