Description
Krym Samite Fennel is a mid-season variety of fennel obtained by individual selection from a hybrid population created by crossing common fennel with vegetable fennel and subsequent backcrosses and enriching crosses. Thanks to this genetic base, the plant differs in high fruit yield – 14.5 c/ha, as well as a stable essential oil mass fraction of 6.16%. The content of anethole in the oil reaches 73.6%, which makes it a valuable source of aromatic compounds. When collecting essential oil, the yield is about 76.5 kg/ha.
The Krym Samite Fennel variety is resistant to cercosporosis, one of the most common diseases of fennel, which ensures more reliable growth and fewer losses under unfavorable conditions. Thanks to a high concentration of essential oil and anethole, the plant is suitable for both food use (as a spice and flavoring) and for the production of essential oils in the perfume and pharmaceutical industries.
Fennel, grown as an annual or biennial, is usually valued for its white heads rich in essential oils. The Krym Samite Fennel variety preserves these properties while remaining easy to cultivate and providing a stable yield even under moderate climatic conditions. This makes it an attractive choice for farmers seeking high product quality and economic efficiency.
