Silver

Oatgrass «Silver» seeds are a hybrid variety obtained through multiple selective crossings of eastern and reed oatgrass. The plant is a compact perennial shrub, 30–60 cm high, with silvery-blue leaves and fluffy semicircular spheres that form spike-like flat inflorescences 5 to 7 cm long in the flowering state. After flowering, the spikes turn light brown.

The variety is distinguished by high yield: with three-cut use, it achieves 31.7–45.8 t/ha of green mass and 0.5–0.6 t/ha of seeds. The mass of 1000 seeds is 2 g. The seeds have excellent frost resistance – 98% survive in spring periods, as well as high drought resistance and low frequency of pest and disease damage.

«Silver» is suitable both for producing hay, silage, and first-class silage, and for use as a lawn. The plant prefers moderately dry, loose, well-drained soil with low nutrient content, making it an ideal choice for natural conditions of the Central Urals.
