Description
Festulolum VIK-90 – a perennial grass obtained by crossing meadow oatgrass and meadow ryegrass. The variety is characterized by high drought resistance and winter hardiness, as well as resistance to pests and diseases, making it suitable for intensive field fodder production.
The bush is upright, slightly drooping, of medium density, with a cylindrical stem without pubescence. Leaves are linear, bright green, soft, and slightly rough on top. The inflorescence is flat, yellow-green, and loose; spikelets are lanceolate-oval with 9–20 florets. Seeds – thin-skinned grain of yellowish color.
Dry matter yield reaches 14 t/ha, and seeds – 600–800 kg/ha. Crude protein content in the first cut hay is 13.5%, and water-soluble carbohydrates – 19.8%. It is recommended for field and meadow seeding on loam and dryland podzolic soils. The variety is suitable both as a monoculture and in mixed cultures with legume grasses, ensuring high productivity with two- and three-fold removal of green mass.
