Description
PalMira is a freesia variety that has received official approval in Russia and is recognized as suitable for cultivation in protected ground. The plant reaches a height of about 68 cm, has a straight, sturdy flower stem approximately 32 cm long, on which usually grow from three to five inflorescences. Each inflorescence contains four to six double flowers with a diameter of about 7.5x6.2 cm.
The flowers of Palmira have a bright red-purple hue with white and bluish stamens and cream anthers. The aroma is moderate but persistent: the flowers retain their fresh appearance and pleasant scent for a long time, making them popular in bouquets and compositions. The flowering lasts about 18 days, and the plant does not shed or fade.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to mosaic virus and thrips, as well as good storage ability of corms. The multiplication coefficient by corms is five pieces per one bulb, which ensures efficient reproduction. Palmira is easily transported and suitable for commercial cut flower cultivation due to the long flowering period and resistance to external factors.
