The Melef Protect formulation is built on the synergy between metalaxyl-M and a complex of amino acids. Developed by Hangzhou Ruijiang Chemical Co., Ltd., this solution is designed to tackle a critical agronomic challenge: protecting the embryo during the most vulnerable vegetative stages of sunflower and maize.

Mechanism of Action

The active ingredient penetrates the seed coat and distributes throughout the seedling as it grows. Unlike contact fungicides, the systemic nature of Melef Protect provides long-term immunity for the root system. The inclusion of amino acid derivatives is a key technical feature of the product; they act as biostimulants, mitigating the stress on germination and assisting the plant in emerging faster under cold or waterlogged soil conditions.

Target Spectrum Against Oomycetes

The product is highly specialized in controlling Oomycetes pathogens:

• Root rots of various etiologies.
• Pythium root rot (Pythium spp.), which is a primary cause of low plant stand density in early sowing.
• Downy mildew (Peronospora), affecting cotyledons and early true leaves.

The emulsion formulation for seed treatment is engineered to meet the requirements of modern machinery: it ensures uniform coating of the seed surface, excellent adhesion, and stability of the working solution, preventing nozzle clogging and uneven dosing.

Practical Implementation

Melef Protect is particularly effective in fields with high pathogen pressure. While classified under hazard class 3, requiring standard handling precautions, its systemic activity significantly minimizes the risk of seedling death in the critical 20–30 day post-sowing window.
