Description
Sineokaya is a species of bearded iris reaching up to 85 cm in height, distinguished by its vivid and saturated flower coloration. Each scape bears five to seven flowers, each typically opening into one to two large (up to 9 cm in diameter) scentless blooms. The flowers are two-toned: the outer segments of the perianth are round and blue, adorned with a bright yellow spot within a large white halo; the inner segments are narrow, blue, and bordered with a blue margin. The lobes of the staminal threads are white, while the crests of the petaloid lobes are a deep blue.
The flowering period of Sineokaya is short but intense: over approximately twenty days, new buds appear and flowers open. The color does not fade, maintaining the brightness of the blue hue even after maturity. The plant belongs to high bearded irises, which are valued for their watercolor forms and rich colors, making it a popular choice for landscape design.
The variety was officially included in the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2001 for the Far Eastern region. It is the result of hybridization between 'Sirenevaya Dymka' and 'Vasili Alfiorov', and has received recognition from experts, including Liudmila Mironova, for its outstanding flowering characteristics and resilience to external conditions.
