Description
The 'ABBAT' jujube variety is a medium-sized bush with a compact, spherical crown, reaching up to 3.5 m in height and about 2–3 m in width. The trunk and main branch bark is rough, shoots are straight, purple, and matte, while the leaves are oval, green with an elongated tip and a brightly anthocyanin-colored petiole. The tree flowers in April, and the fruits ripen evenly throughout the autumn, reaching an average mass of 3.2 g.
The fruits of the 'ABBAT' jujube have a pear shape, a dark red almost black hue, and a thin, dense skin. Inside lies juicy, tender flesh with a characteristic jujube aroma and a sweet-sour taste. The dry matter content is 124.9 %, sugars – 12.4 %, and acids – 2.5 %. Vitamin C is present in an amount of 40.5 mg/100 g.
The variety is characterized by high yield (about 80.9 c/ha) and winter hardiness. It is resistant to diseases and pests, as well as tolerates various climatic conditions – from northern to central-Siberian regions. Thanks to its universal purpose, jujube 'ABBAT' is suitable for both fresh consumption and preservation, making compotes, jams, and other processed products.
