LEYSAN

Lemon 'Leysan' is a remontant variety obtained in Russia and quickly became popular due to the large fruit size and high yield. The tree reaches a height of 2.5–3 m, has a rounded crown of medium density, arching shoots without pubescence. Leaves are medium-sized, green, glossy, with finely serrated edges.

'Leysan' fruits are large (280–500 g), egg-shaped with a flat base and slightly elongated tip. The peel is thick, loose, oily, and glossy orange; low separability makes the fruit convenient for transportation and storage. The pulp is creamy, juicy, sweet-and-sour with an aroma, containing 68% pulp, 27.8% juice, and 30% peel.

The variety is distinguished by disease and pest resistance, as well as good transportability. The yield is about 27–29 kg per tree depending on age: 22.25 kg at 6–9 years, 27.5 kg at 10–13 years, and 29 kg at 16 years. Fruits are suitable for both direct consumption and processing – jam, candied fruits, drinks. 'Leysan' is recommended for cultivation in all regions of Russia in protected ground; under favorable conditions, it can grow openly on the Black Sea coast.
