Altai Red

Lily «Altai Red» is an Asian hybrid growing from 70 to 100 cm in height, created within the agronomic breeding program of the Federal Altai Center for Agrobiotechnology (FGAUN «Federal Altai Center for Agrobiotechnology»). The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and medium heat tolerance, making it suitable for decorative greening in forest and forest-steppe zones. The bulbous nature of the plant ensures stable growth and ease of cultivation.

The flowers of «Altai Red» are single, bright red, with a diameter of 14.5 cm, and have no aromatic properties. Typically, seven to thirteen buds grow on one scape, from which about three flowers open simultaneously. The inflorescence has a raceme shape, and the length of the scapes is 40–60 cm. The flowering period lasts approximately two weeks.

The variety differs in medium resistance to diseases and pests, which reduces the need for aggressive chemical protective agents. Thanks to the dark brown bulbs and stem roots, the plant easily roots and quickly recovers after transplantation. This makes it a popular choice both for garden greening and for cut flower production.
