Description
Lomkocelosnik "MARFINSKII" – diploid variety developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Irrigated Vegetable and Melon Farming. The plant features an erect bush with numerous medium-length, hairless stems. Leaves are green, soft, and waxy-free; the ligule is short and pointed, while the flag leaf is linear. Flowering begins early, with inflorescences of straw-yellow color, dense, awn-free, and seeds narrow-lanceolate light-gray. Plant height ranges from 110–150 cm, bushiness is medium, with typically 50–85 stems per bush.
The variety boasts high productivity and resilience to adverse conditions: good drought tolerance, winter hardiness, and salt tolerance. It forms a powerful basal rosette, ensuring longevity of sown pastures and enabling the formation of stable agrophytocenoses on degraded areas. Yield of green mass averages 3.2–3.6 t/ha over three years, with crude protein content in dry matter at 12%, exceeding the Bootur standard.
"MARFINSKII" is suitable for cultivation in agricultural areas of the central belt and colder regions: Far East, East Siberia, West Siberia, Urals, Lower Volga, Middle Volga, North Caucasus, Central Black Earth, Volga-Vyatsk, Central, Northwest, and North regions. The plant requires moderate care, regular watering during active growth, and can be used as a forage crop or green cover. The growing period lasts 120–140 days, with sowing times in spring after thawing.
