Description
Honeysuckle "Spokusa" – Ukrainian variety bred in 2010 and registered in 2011. This is an early-fruiting medium-maturity berry: fruits are dark blue, urn-shaped with a waxy bloom, with a sour-sweet taste reminiscent of blueberries. They contain ascorbic acid (23.8 mg/100 g), B vitamins, and antioxidants, making them healthy.
Bushes «Spokusa» reach heights of 1.3–1.6 m and widths of 0.2–0.25 m, have a semi-spreading crown, and can live from 25 to 30 years. The plant is frost-resistant (up to –46 °C), disease-, and pest-resistant, and tolerates drought well with moderate watering. It suits sandy or clay soil with pH 5–7. Pollination occurs via cross-pollination; therefore, it is recommended to plant several bushes for optimal fruiting.
Yield per bush is from 3 to 5 kg of berries, which ripen in May–June and can be used fresh, in juices, compotes, or jams. Seedlings with a closed root system adapt easily and quickly start fruiting, making them an attractive choice for a garden. Plant the plants at least 2 m apart, ensure sunlight, and provide moderate fertilization for a rich harvest of tasty berries.
