NEMCHINOVSKY 846

Nemchinovsky 846 is an ultra-early-maturing variety of narrow-leafed lupin (Lupinus angustifolius L.), specifically developed for grain fodder and silage production, as well as for use as green manure. The plant is characterized by a short growing period of 70–80 days and high yield: up to 3-4 tons per hectare with an average grain yield of about 20.6 c/ha and green mass of 350 c/ha. Protein content in the grain reaches 33-35%, while the alkaloid level remains extremely low (up to 0.1% or even below 0.015%), making it safe for feeding animals.

Nemchinovsky 846 differs in cold hardiness: seeds germinate at temperatures from 3 to 5 °C, and seedlings withstand short-term frost down to -6 °C. The root system is well-developed taproot and can penetrate to a depth of up to 2 m, which ensures drought resistance and increases the efficiency of nutrient absorption.

For successful cultivation, it is recommended to start soil treatment in the fall, and in the spring conduct harrowing or ridge tillage with subsequent pre-sowing cultivation. Phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are applied under autumn plowing or during pre-sowing cultivation; for crops, 30-50 kg/m² of nitrogen is usually added. Seeds are pre-treated 2-3 weeks before sowing and inoculated before sowing. To obtain green mass, the variety is sown in rows at a depth of 4 cm with a seed rate of 180 kg/ha, while for grain fodder - simultaneously with early cereal crops or 2-3 weeks later.
