Description
The mogar variety 'Stoik' is a medium-maturing grain-forage variety suitable for both feed and food use. The plants are upright, 94–133 cm tall, with medium bushiness. Leaves are elongated-lanceolate, 30–48 cm long, 1.0–1.8 cm wide, with an anthocyanin tint; leafiness is 34–42 %. The panicle is cylindrical and dense, 10–23 cm long. Awns are yellow with a gray tint, 0.6–1.0 cm long. Spikelets are round-elliptical, yellowish-brown at maturity; the grain is also round-elliptical, yellow, and glabrous.
The vegetative period from germination to the first cut is 48–63 days, and to full maturity – 97–110 days. The variety is characterized by high drought resistance and good adaptation to a wide range of climatic conditions: Northern, Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatsky, Central Black Earth, North Caucasian, Middle-Volga, Lower Volga, Ural, Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia, and the Far East. The mass of 1000 seeds is 3.4–3.5 g.
Yield of dry matter is about 59 ц/га, seed yield – about 25.7 ц/га. When cultivated mechanized, the variety is well suited for both traditional and resource-saving technologies; it withstands the action of herbicides for cereals. The sowing rate is 10–20 кг/га, sowing depth 3–4 cm. In the first years of introduction, wide-row sowing (45–60 cm) is recommended.
