Bogatyr

The Parsley 'Bogatyr' variety is an early-maturing root-leaf variety with a vegetative period from 50 to 65 days for greens and 120-160 days for root crops. The plant forms an upright rosette 20-40 cm high with large, aromatic leaves that have a delicate and slightly sweet taste. The root crops reach a length of 20-30 cm, have white flesh and weigh about 100 g, are characterized by a delicate taste and good storage quality. The variety is resistant to bolting, low temperatures, and can overwinter in the ground, which expands the possibilities for its cultivation and storage.

Parsley 'Bogatyr' is unpretentious regarding soil type and growing conditions, grows successfully on loamy and sandy-loam soils, and shows plasticity to heat, cold, and drought. To obtain a high yield of greens, regular cutting is recommended, which allows obtaining 4-5 harvests per season. Sowing seeds is possible from March to August; they are planted in rows with a spacing between seeds of 3-5 cm and a row spacing of 15-25 cm, with the application of peat mulching and covering with polyethylene for better germination. Timely watering, loosening, weed control, and feeding are important to maintain plant health.

Parsley 'Bogatyr' is widely used in cooking due to the versatility of application as both greens and root crops. Leaves and rootlets are added to soups, sauces, salads, and marinades, giving dishes aroma and taste. Moreover, parsley has beneficial properties: anti-inflammatory and diuretic effect, helps eliminate waste and toxins, improves appetite, and supports kidney and liver health. For long-term storage, root crops are dug up at the end of October, dried, and stored in a cool place, for example, in a basement in boxes with sand, which allows preserving their freshness and useful qualities.
