Description
Paeonia Vesilna — a perennial herbaceous cultivar of the milk-flowered group (Paeonia lactiflora), distinguished by its early flowering and expressive fragrance reminiscent of rose. The flowers are double, rose-shaped, reaching an impressive size of up to 17 cm in diameter. The petals are wide and snow-white, with yellow stamens visible between two rows, giving the flower exceptional decorative appeal. In certain years, red markings may appear on the petals, adding uniqueness to the appearance.
The stems of Paeonia Vesilna are robust and upright, with plant height ranging from 80 to 100 cm, ensuring good stem stability. The leaves are dark green and dense, creating an effective backdrop for the large flowers. The plant does not produce fruit, which is typical for many decorative peony cultivars. This cultivar exhibits high cold tolerance and is suitable for USDA zones 3a to 8a, enduring temperatures from -40°C to -9°C.
Paeonia Vesilna was developed through selection among seedlings of the cultivar "M-lle Jeanne Riviere" and was first selected in 1984. Due to its decorative qualities and fragrance, this cultivar is widely used in horticulture to create striking floral compositions and to beautify garden plots. It is ideal for cultivation in open ground and requires standard care typical for perennial herbaceous peonies.
