The primary active ingredient of this product is ethephon (480 g/l). Upon application, it is rapidly absorbed by the plant tissues and undergoes enzymatic breakdown, releasing ethylene. As a phytohormone, ethylene inhibits longitudinal cell elongation. By targeting the internodes of winter wheat and barley, Cerone effectively shortens the stem, shifting the plant's metabolic focus from height growth to structural reinforcement.

Cerone is designed to mitigate lodging, which is a major bottleneck for high-yield grain production. By applying the product, growers trigger an increase in the thickness of the culm walls and the overall diameter of the stem base.
