Alexander

Winter rape Alexander — a high-yielding mid-early hybrid developed by the French company Limagrain and adapted for cultivation in Ukraine. It is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to stressful conditions, including drought, ensuring a stable yield even in challenging climatic zones such as the Polissia and forest-steppe. The plant has medium height and is adaptable to sowing dates, allowing effective use in various agronomic schemes.

The hybrid exhibits genetic resistance to phomopsis due to the presence of the RLM7 gene, and is also resistant to other diseases such as sclerotinia and cylindrosporiosis. Additionally, Alexander is characterized by high resistance to pod cracking and root neck pulling, which reduces yield losses during harvest. The recommended plant density at harvest is 400 to 900 thousand plants per hectare, which helps achieve maximum yield potential — up to 7.1 tons per hectare.

Oil content in Alexander rape seeds ranges from 47 to 51%, with glucosinolate levels not exceeding 15 g/mmol, and erucic acid content absent, making the oil high quality and safe for use. Rape is suitable for cultivation on light and medium soils and can be used both for oil production and as a forage crop. The hybrid’s vegetative renewal in spring is medium-late, allowing efficient planning of agronomic activities throughout the season.
