Astronom

Astronom — a high-yielding winter rapeseed hybrid developed by Limagrain, characterized by strong early autumn development and suitable for wide-row planting. This hybrid features high oil content in seeds — from 47 to 50% — making it attractive for the oil industry. In addition, Astronom has low glucosinolate content (less than 15 g/mmol) and no erucic acid, improving the quality of the final product.

The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major rapeseed diseases, including phoma, due to the presence of the RLM7 resistance gene, as well as genetic resistance to pod cracking. Tolerance to phoma is rated 9 out of 9, to cylindrosporiosis — 8 out of 9, and also shows high resistance to white mold. Furthermore, Astronom demonstrates high drought tolerance (8.5 out of 10) and cold tolerance (8 out of 10), enabling successful cultivation under various climatic conditions.

Early spring vegetation recovery helps quickly shade weeds and reduce water evaporation, which is especially important for optimal and late sowing. The recommended seeding rate is 350–500 thousand seeds per hectare. The hybrid produces a high number of pods and seeds per square meter, ensuring high yield potential — up to 71 centners per hectare. All these characteristics make Astronom a reliable choice for intensive and sustainable rapeseed production.
