Berny

Berny is an early-maturing winter rapeseed variety developed by Zaatzbau selection, distinguished by its combination of early flowering and maturation, making it particularly suitable for cultivation in the challenging climatic conditions of Ukraine's Steppe and Forest-Steppe regions. This variety begins flowering 2-3 days earlier than others, allowing effective use of scarce winter moisture and forming the harvest at the beginning of the dry period, ensuring high resistance to heat and drought.

Berny has a high yield potential, reaching 40-60 c/ha, and a high oil content in seeds — from 46 to 49%. The variety demonstrates good lodging resistance, contributing to the preservation of yield quality and quantity. Additionally, it exhibits excellent regenerative capacity after winter frosts, ensuring crop stability and minimizing losses.

The recommended seeding rate is 450–600 thousand seeds per hectare, depending on the sowing time, which is optimally conducted between August 20 and 30, with late sowing possible until September 10. The variety also shows good tolerance to diseases such as phomopsis and alternaria, reducing the need for intensive plant protection and enhancing economic efficiency of cultivation.
