Description
Sunflower variety Iris is a medium-early hybrid developed using innovative A.I.R. technology, which provides high resistance to weeds and A-G flea beetle pests. This technology allows the use of herbicides based on imazamox, imazapir, or tribenuron-methyl, contributing to effective crop protection and increased yield. The hybrid exhibits high adaptability to sowing dates and is recommended for cultivation in dry southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, as well as in steppe zones of central and northern parts of the country.
Iris is characterized by good drought and heat tolerance, ensuring stable yield even under insufficient moisture. High initial growth energy promotes rapid vegetative mass accumulation, while good pollen fertility and high seed set ensure high-quality harvest. The hybrid is resistant to false powdery mildew, further enhancing its reliability under challenging climatic conditions. Oil content in seeds ranges from 48 to 50%, making Iris attractive for vegetable oil production.
Recommended sowing rate ranges from 35,000 to 50,000 seeds per hectare depending on moisture levels; one bag of seeds (150,000 units) is sufficient for sowing 2.7 to 3.75 hectares. Sunflower Iris belongs to the extensive type, meaning it can produce high yields without requiring large amounts of fertilizers or frequent pesticide applications. Adhering to crop rotation when growing this hybrid helps maintain soil health and reduces disease risk.
