When evaluating the "Kvartet" variety from the Institute of Oilseed Crops of the NAAS, we look at it not as a theory, but as a production asset. It is a classic Ukrainian winter rapeseed that requires precise adherence to the technological map, offering predictable profitability in return.

Operational features and seeding campaign

The main challenge and advantage of "Kvartet" is its response to sowing dates. The variety is sensitive to overgrowth in the autumn, so a "plant and forget" strategy will not work here. For optimal wintering, we recommend:

• Strict control of seeding rates to avoid overcrowding, which leads to the stretching of the growing point.
• Applying growth regulators at the 4-6 leaf stage — this is a critical maintenance step that directly affects winter survival.
• Minimizing root rot risks, as the variety shows excellent response to autumn fungicide protection.

Sustainability and economics

The main argument for this variety is its adaptation to local climatic conditions. As operators, we note the plant's high frost and drought resistance. It is not a "plastic hybrid" requiring massive chemical inputs, but a stable variety that efficiently utilizes soil fertility. When managed correctly, it demonstrates stable branching and uniform ripening, which simplifies logistics during the harvest.

Field recovery

If problems arise (such as pest damage or abiotic stress), the variety shows good regenerative capacity. "Kvartet" forgives minor technological errors if corrective fertilization is applied in time. This makes it a predictable management tool for farms looking for a balance between seed costs and final yield.
