VN 4 represents the result of breeding synergy between the Russian Federal Research Center VNIIMK and Chinese specialists from Jinghaisilu. This is a population variety, which provides agronomists with a significant advantage: the ability to reproduce seeds on-farm without losing technological properties in the first generation. The key value of this selection lies in its adaptability and predictable development.

Plant architecture and branching

For winter crops, the ability to regenerate after winter is a critical factor. VN 4 demonstrates a high potential for branching. A strong stem and intensive formation of lateral shoots allow the plant to form a denser and more uniform canopy. This not only increases the productivity of each individual plant but also contributes to the effective suppression of weed vegetation during the early stages of the growing season.

Clearfield technology integration

The main technical feature of VN 4 is its resistance to imidazolinone herbicides (Clearfield system). This radically changes the approach to crop protection:

• Control of a broad spectrum of broad-leaved and grass weeds, including difficult-to-eradicate species such as wild mustard and winter cress.
• Minimization of phytotoxicity: the crop maintains its growth rate even after application, which is critical for the short autumn growing period.
• Reduction of costs for split herbicide applications: working within the «clean field» system allows for focus on managing plant density rather than combating weed pressure.
