Description
The NF311 garden strawberry variety, marketed under the brand Alba®, is an early, high-yielding Italian selection known for its very early ripening — berries ripen two days earlier than the Honey variety. Medium-height, compact plants with vigorous growth, well-suited to heat and drought, making this variety resistant to adverse weather conditions. Berries are elongated, bright red, glossy, sweet, and weigh about 25 grams on average, ensuring good transportability and visual appeal for commercial cultivation.
NF311 strawberry is resistant to root diseases and tolerant to powdery mildew and angular leaf spot, though it requires attention to anthracnose, to which the variety is somewhat susceptible. The plant is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in plastic greenhouses, expanding its use across various climatic conditions. For maximum yield, it is recommended to grow this variety on light to medium-textured soils with pH 5.0-6.5.
Soil preparation for planting includes applying 5-6 kg of organic fertilizer and up to 40 g of mineral fertilizer per square meter, followed by deep plowing and allowing the soil to settle. The plant prefers sunny locations, which promotes the formation of large, sweet berries. High-quality, certified planting material of NF311 is available from leading European nurseries and the company Frutek, which uses modern cultivation technologies to ensure the health and productivity of the mother stock.
