Veselka

The 'Veselka' strawberry variety is an early and high-yielding cultivar developed at the Kyiv Station in 1990 and patented in 2007. It was obtained by crossing the 'Gigantela Maxi' variety with selection form No. 86-53-303. The plants are vigorous, spreading with strong flower stems, which promotes good growth and fruiting. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions.

The berries of the 'Veselka' variety are large, round, red-orange in color with a glossy surface. Individual berry weight reaches 40-45 grams. The flesh is juicy, sweet with a distinct strawberry aroma, sometimes with a slight pineapple flavor. Thanks to its high transportability, the berries retain their attractive appearance and flavor qualities during transport and storage.

The variety is versatile in use: berries are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for preservation and freezing. The yield is high, and the fruiting period is extended, although the first berries appear slightly later than those of the early 'Olvia' variety. 'Veselka' exhibits high resistance to diseases, particularly gray mold and leaf spot, which simplifies care and improves harvest quality.
