Description
Rowan 'Daughter of Kubovoy' is a mid-early variety with bright orange fruits of medium mass, reaching up to 1.8 g and having a regular elongated shape. The fruits have a juicy, tender flesh of bright yellow color, without bitterness and excessive astringency; their taste is rated 4.5 points on the tasting scale.
The tree is of medium height (up to 4 m) with a spreading, open crown. The crown is about 3 m wide; leaves are complex, odd-pinnate, light green, thin and matte, with noticeable pubescence and a serrated margin; leaflets are lanceolate, short-acuminate. Shoots are thick, straight, of a greenish-grey shade. The tree is resistant to diseases (rust, spotting, leaf curling) and pests (aphids), and also withstands drought well.
For cultivation, sunlight is required, along with moderate soil moisture – loam, sod-podzolic, or chernozem soil. The tree cannot tolerate waterlogging but shows good frost hardiness (Zone 3). Fruiting begins in the 4–5th year after planting, and the ripening period is early autumn. The variety is suitable for alley planting and universal use of fruits in cooking.
