EMERAUDE — is a medium-maturing, two-line hybrid of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), characterized by a tall plant with high leafiness and excellent lodging resistance. The plant has weak anthocyanin pigmentation of the coleoptile and yellow awns, as well as the absence or very weak bleaching of the midrib of the flag leaf. The panicle is of medium length, loose, with a broad lower part and short or absent neck. The glumes are long and acquire a reddish-brown hue upon maturity. The grain is narrowly elliptical, with an orange-red seed coat and very low tannin content or its absence. The endosperm is predominantly vitreous and purple in color. The hybrid EMERAUDE is distinguished by high dry matter yield for silage, averaging 86.4 centners per hectare, which is 19.2% higher than the standard, with a record yield of 211 centners per hectare achieved in the Stavropol Krai in 2019. Sowing rate varies depending on conditions: from 180-220 thousand seeds per hectare in dry areas to 250 thousand seeds under irrigation. The recommended seed sowing depth is 2–4 cm, row spacing — 50–75 cm, at soil temperatures above 12°C. The hybrid is adapted to various climatic conditions, including dry areas, due to its drought tolerance. EMERAUDE is widely used for silage and feed production, owing to its excellent digestibility (59.4%), high sugar content (24.1%), and starch content (9.4%). These characteristics also make it promising for bioethanol and alcohol production. The hybrid was included in the registry in 2020 and recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region.
