Description
Soy 'Crepe Lace' is an early-maturing determinate variety with low to medium plant height, averaging 65.7 cm. A distinctive feature of the variety is the absence of anthocyanin pigmentation in the hypocotyl and reddish-brown pubescence on the main stem. The leaves are compound with lanceolate lateral leaflets, flowers are white, and seeds are yellow with a yellow hilum. The attachment height of the lower pod is approximately 11.4 cm. The variety is characterized by high yield: average yield in the East Siberian region reaches 14.4 c/ha, with a maximum of 35.7 c/ha. Seeds contain a significant amount of protein — 38.0%, and fat — 19.0%, making them valuable for food and grain use.
Research conducted in the Amur region showed that the optimal sowing rate for the Crepe Lace variety is 600 thousand viable seeds per hectare. At this sowing rate, the best quality of seed material is achieved, with germination energy from 85 to 89% and laboratory germination from 90 to 94%. The mass of 1,000 seeds varies within 123–127 g and is weakly dependent on the sowing method. At the same time, row sowing with 15 cm inter-row spacing ensures an increase in yield by 6.14% compared to wide-row sowing, regardless of the sowing rate. Despite a certain decrease in the number of pods per plant at high sowing rates, the total seed harvest turns out to be maximum.
The Crepe Lace variety is characterized by high photosynthetic activity and resistance to fungal and bacterial diseases, which increases its reliability in various climatic conditions. It shows relative resistance to waterlogging and drought, which expands the possibilities for its cultivation. Thanks to these qualities and the high content of protein and fat in seeds, Crepe Lace is suitable for both food and grain use, making it a promising choice for farmers seeking a high-quality and high-yield product.
