Description
Galyana soybean is an early-maturing grain soybean variety of Serbian selection, developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Field Crop Production in Novi Sad and registered in the State Variety Register of Ukraine since 2009. Plants reach a height of 90–110 cm, with the lower pod attached at 13–15 cm. The vegetation period is 105–110 days, allowing this variety to be planted under various climatic conditions, including forest-steppe and steppe regions. Plant density at harvest varies from 430,000 to 470,000 plants per hectare depending on the region, with the optimal sowing period from April to the first decade of May.
Galyana soybean is characterized by high yield potential exceeding 50 centners per hectare (5.0 tons per hectare) under intensive cultivation. The variety is resistant to lodging, cracking, and major diseases, ensuring stable and high-quality harvests. The seeds contain 38–42% protein and 20–21% oil, making this variety attractive for oil, protein, and other soy-based product production.
Due to its characteristics, Galyana soybean is suitable for cultivation in various regions, including the forest-steppe, central, and southern steppes of Ukraine, and is also registered in Croatia. This variety is recommended for intensive farming and delivers high productivity when proper care and agronomic practices are followed.
