Description
Bikini is a mid-season hybrid of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. ssp. vulgaris var. saccharifera Alef.), intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region, in particular in the Republic of Adygea. This single-seed diploid hybrid on a sterile N-type base is characterized by high yield and sugar content. The average root yield is 522 centners per hectare, with a sugar content of 17.6%, providing a sugar yield of 92.2 centners per hectare. The hybrid is included in the state register and recommended for cultivation with irrigation.
One of the important features of the Bikini hybrid is its resistance to major sugar beet diseases, including rhizomania, as well as moderate resistance to powdery mildew and Cercospora. Root nematode damage is very low, contributing to a stable and quality harvest. High disease resistance helps reduce loss risks and increase cultivation efficiency.
For successful sugar beet Bikini cultivation, optimal germination temperatures are considered to be from +5°C, with a preferred temperature of 13-15°C. An important factor affecting yield and sugar content is sufficient light. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation with irrigation, which contributes to achieving maximum productivity and quality sugar indicators.
