Description
Beet sugar variety Dvina is characterized by high yield and sugar content potential, making it a sought-after crop for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including Polesie, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. The root has an oval-conical shape and is deeply embedded in the soil at 85%, contributing to good stability and harvest retention. The leaf rosette is medium-sized, dark green, and spreading, ensuring optimal photosynthesis and plant development.
This variety exhibits high resistance to adverse factors such as drought, cold, and major sugar beet diseases, including rhizomania, cercosporosis, powdery mildew, aphanomyces root rot, and nematodes. Due to these qualities, Dvina is well-suited for cultivation on nematode-infested fields while maintaining high productivity and juice quality. The recommended plant density at harvest is 90 to 115 thousand per hectare, and the seeding rate is 1.3 seeding units per hectare.
For successful cultivation of variety Dvina, the optimal seed germination temperature is around 13-15°C, although germination can occur at +5°C. The sugar content of the roots reaches 18.5%, meeting modern requirements for raw material quality in the sugar industry. This variety is recommended for medium harvest timing and is well-adapted to irrigation conditions, allowing stable and high yields even under challenging climatic conditions.
