Description
KUBANSKY MS 74 is a single-seeded diploid hybrid of sugar beet, bred at SKNIISSiS and recommended for cultivation in the Central-Black Earth and North Caucasus regions, as well as in Krasnodar Krai. The hybrid was created on a sterile N-type basis and is distinguished by high yield and sugar quality indicators. Average root yield reaches 421–457 ц/ha, sugar content varies within 16–18.4%, and sugar harvest ranges from 81 to 84.2 ц/ha. The mass of one root is about 536 grams, which facilitates efficient harvest collection.
The variety has high resistance to Cercospora infection and root rot pathogens, significantly reducing yield losses and improving quality. Moreover, KUBANSKY MS 74 has an advantage in zones with high infestation of sugar beet moth and leaf-eating cutworms, making it a reliable choice for regions with such phyto-sanitary conditions. During field trials, very weak rootworm infestation and moderate Cercospora and powdery mildew infestation were noted, indicating the hybrid's balanced resistance to main diseases and pests.
Due to its characteristics, KUBANSKY MS 74 is suitable for cultivation in various agro-climatic conditions, including Voronezh and Lipetsk regions, Stavropol Krai, and Krasnodar Krai. High sugar content and stable yield make this hybrid attractive to sugar producers, ensuring high sugar harvest per hectare and economic efficiency of production. Cultivation recommendations take into account regional features, allowing to maximize the variety's potential and obtain a quality crop.
