Technical Profile and Genetic Architecture

RBMS 18 is a diploid sugar beet hybrid of the Normal (N) type, focused on balanced productivity. The technical value of this material lies in its genetic adaptability to temperate climatic zones. The diploid nature of the culture ensures high crop uniformity, which is critical for mechanized harvesting and consistent root development.

Biochemical Indicators and Phytosanitary Protection

• Sugar Content: The 16–17% range is the standard benchmark for N-type hybrids, ensuring a stable yield of the final product during processing.
• Root Morphology: The medium size of the root facilitates efficient processing through beet harvester cleaners, reducing losses during high-volume production.
• Pathogen Resistance: A core element of this hybrid's breeding is its resistance to Cercospora. In conditions of high humidity and temperature fluctuations, this factor protects the leaf canopy from premature senescence, allowing the plant to maintain photosynthetic activity until late autumn.

The development was conducted by the Biysk Experimental Breeding Station in collaboration with British agrotechnical laboratories (Ewell Barn, Kent). This fusion of breeding schools allowed for a balance between yield potential and field tolerance to fungal infections, making RBMS 18 a predictable asset within crop rotation cycles.
