Description
Rumul — a high-yielding sugar beet hybrid of intensive type, characterized by high productivity and technological efficiency. The root has a conical-round shape and weighs about 850 grams, ensuring ease of harvest and minimal losses. Yield reaches 90 tons per hectare, with sucrose content of 19%, indicating high raw material quality. Rumul exhibits good plasticity regarding harvest timing and high suitability for irrigation, making it versatile for various agro-climatic zones, including Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. Recommended plant density at harvest is approximately 90-115 thousand plants per hectare, with a sowing rate of 1.3 seeding units per hectare.
The hybrid shows high resistance to major sugar beet diseases: rhizomania, cercosporosis, powdery mildew, and phytophthora root rot, significantly reducing yield loss risks and the need for frequent protective treatments. Thanks to its well-developed root system capable of absorbing water from depths up to 2.5 meters, Rumul demonstrates good drought tolerance. However, the crop requires adequate moisture, especially during the intensive root growth period in July-August, when water demand is highest.
Sugar beet Rumul prefers warm growing conditions with an optimal temperature of 20-22°C, but can successfully develop even at higher temperatures, up to 40°C. Seeds germinate within a wide temperature range from +4 to +17°C, with emergence time depending on soil temperature. The crop can withstand light frosts down to -5°C during the pre-harvest period, preserving root quality and sugar accumulation. All these characteristics make the Rumul hybrid a reliable choice for the sugar industry and agricultural enterprises focused on high productivity and product quality.
