High performance under high disease pressure

My experience with the CP768 hybrid from Belgium-based Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa has been excellent, particularly in fields where pathogen pressure is usually a headache. What I value most is the consistency; you don’t have to worry about your crop losing its photosynthetic capacity prematurely due to leaf diseases.

Superior plant health

CP768 is a true performer when it comes to resistance against Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew. During a wet and humid summer, it holds up significantly better than standard varieties, which keeps the foliage green and healthy for as long as possible. This extra time allows for better sugar accumulation, and frankly, it saves a significant amount of money on fungicide passes.

Harvesting and root characteristics

Mechanized harvest is where you really see the value of a well-bred hybrid. The CP768 has a specific root shape—narrow-conical transitioning into a cylindrical form—that makes it incredibly easy for the harvester to lift. Because the roots are consistent and large, there is less root breakage and less dirt tare, meaning the machine runs smoother and faster. Plus, the resistance to root rot is impressive; I’ve seen this hybrid thrive in fields where other varieties struggled with soil-borne issues.
